Canon City, Colorado
Canon City's ONLY Traditional Japanese Karate Dojo
serving our community since 1996

Canon City, nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Rocky Mountains, is the home of Rocky Mountain Shito-Ryu Karate-Do.
We are a traditional karate dojo teaching the Japanese art of Seito Shito-Ryu. Founded by Master Kenwa Mabuni in 1929, Shito-Ryu is one of the four major styles of karate still taught in Japan today. Mabuni was descended from the "Bushi" or Warrior Class on the island of Okinawa and blended a hard style he learned from Master Higaonna with a soft style  he learned from Master Itosu to create Shito-Ryu, a style uniquely different from any other.
"Traditional" means that we teach a philosophy and a life style - not just how to kick and punch. The "Do" in Karate-Do is the Japanese word for "Way" or "Path"  Shito-Ryu is a great style for exercise, physical fitness and self-defense but because it is NOT JUST KARATE it teaches so much more.
All of the instructors and black belts at Rocky Mountain Shito-Ryu are tested by a panel of Shihan (Masters) and their rank is registered internationally through the Shito-Ryu International Karate Do Kai
